Michiko Uchiyama

Consultant of Environmental and Biodiversity Management

My consulting experiences range back to 2011 as a freelancer and before that as a junior consultant at a German governmental company. The main issues of my academic and professional work have been sustainable development, environmental management, international agricultural policy, waste policy, recycling system, local agenda21 and agriculture - from the point of view of the government and the private sector. In recent years, though, my focus turned on the matter of biodiversity in the sense of biological biodiversity.

The concept of the biodiversity first appeared in the 1980’s and gained popularity due to the Rio Conference and the Convention on Biological Diversity in 1992. It gained even more momentum at the UN Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), where the need of conserving biodiversity for politics, the private sector and the society as a whole has been stressed.

Against this background I will support you to

  1. develop innovative approaches for the conservation of biodiversity,

  2. integrate biodiversity into your management system,

  3. develop networks with relevant stakeholders and

  4. publish your activities regarding the conservation of biodiversity.
